26.5 | May Product Release

Lucy Penn

Here’s what’s new from our latest release – a set of updates across the PageSuite platform designed to help you reach more readers, keep them engaged for longer, and manage your digital editions with greater confidence.

NEW PS Edition Reader
26.5.0

Focus: More ways to monetise and engage readers, with greater control over the reading experience.

  • Bring video and rich media into your editions – Image gallery hotspots and Brightcove videos can now be embedded as media objects in the new reader, making it easier to deliver a richer editorial experience without custom development work.
  • More advertising options in the flow of content – In-Flow ads are now supported, sitting between article content in a similar way to the existing Page 0 ads. Flexible sizing and size mapping give you control over how they’re presented.
  • Clippings is back – Readers can once again print or download clippings from the reader. It’s off by default and can be enabled per publication.
  • Smarter date navigation – The calendar date picker now includes a month and year selector, so readers no longer have to step through months one at a time to reach older editions.
  • Configurable archive and search limits – You can now set an earliest date or a rolling window (e.g. last 90 days) to scope the archive and search results – useful for managing reader expectations, enforcing set archive limits, and platform performance.
  • Greater ad control – When a Page 0 ad serves, the surrounding UI ads can now be hidden automatically. Section-based targeting for UI ads is also now available.
  • Reader-controlled navigation on article close – Readers can choose whether closing an article returns them to the page the article belongs to, or to the last PDF page they were viewing – bringing behaviour closer to the old HTML5 reader.
  • Friendly page numbering – The reader now supports display values like A1, B2, FC, or other custom section labels alongside or in place of numeric page numbers.

Clients will be migrated to our new Edition Reader throughout 2026. Updates to our Edition Reader are rolled out automatically

PS Mobile App
26.5.0

Focus: A more personalised, habit-forming app experience.

  • A reimagined My Content experience – The My Content tab has been rebuilt from the ground up with a personalised landing page, a dedicated saved sub-view, and a Continue Viewing block so readers can pick up exactly where they left off
  • Reading history – A new view groups your readers’ recent reading activity by time period, making it easy to revisit content they’ve started or want to return to.
  • Topics where they belong – The ‘topic selector’ has moved into My Content, giving readers a natural home to manage their interests alongside their saved and recent content. Topics now default to ‘unfollowed’ on a fresh app install.
  • Buy individual editions – Readers can now purchase single editions directly via in-app purchase – a new route to revenue alongside existing subscription models.
  • Better audio controls – The audio player has a refreshed UI integrating the playback prompt, and readers can now control playback speed directly from the audio queue.
