DC Thomson is one of the leading media organisations in the UK and publishes a plethora of renowned newspapers, magazines and books. Their titles include; The Courier and Evening Telegraph, The Press and Journal, The Dandy, The Beano and The People’s Friend.
Back in 2012, PageSuite collaborated with DC Thomson to digitally publish their Aberdeen titles. With their Dundee magazines hosted in other platforms, there soon became the requirement to consolidate all titles onto a single platform. With the core goal to provide customers with access to fantastic content at value for money, DC Thomson decided to transfer all of their existing apps and titles to PageSuite and make each of them available in iOS and Android app stores.
“Our aim was to get all of our apps available in Apple and Google Play stores as soon as we could, as all our competitors were doing the same - it felt like a race!”
Samantha Miller, Senior Digital Project Manager
To effectively transfer the existing apps, PageSuite worked with DC Thomson to implement a migration path for the app users. This secured a smooth transition for DC Thomson’s audience and minimised disruption whilst the transfer was taking place.
PageSuite expedited a large proportion of the transfer, making it much easier for DC Thomson and allowed them to concentrate on what they do best.
Hosting the vast range titles under PageSuite makes the management and maintenance much easier forDC Thomson. Since the consolidation, DC Thomson has significantly increased the amount of apps that they have had developed by PageSuite. The apps work for both DC Thomson and their readers and bring in significant revenue, showing that their digital strategy has been successful.
